"Really like the Opera track, interesting collision of styles."

In Greek mythology, maenads were the female followers of Dionysus and the most significant members of the Thiasus.
Their name literally translates as "raving ones". Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by Dionysus into a state of ecstatic frenzy through a combination of dancing and intoxication. During these rites, the maenads would dress in fawn skins and carry a thyrsus, a long stick wrapped in ivy or vine leaves and tipped with a pine cone.
With a sound ranging between Jazz, Techno, Rave and Breaks the Maenads deliver a psyche influenced single with colliding styles. While 'Opera' is a Jazz breaks drama themed slow stomper with busy drums and rich melodics, the flipside 'Taming The Sun' is a more peaceful and cosmic themed arrangement, based on an ancient Maori saga with strange but beautiful harmonics on a spiritual Jazz vessel.
