In Greek mythology, maenads were the female followers of Dionysus and the most significant members of the Thiasus.
Their name literally translates as "raving ones". Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by Dionysus into a state of ecstatic frenzy through a combination of dancing and intoxication. During these rites, the maenads would dress in fawn skins and carry a thyrsus, a long stick wrapped in ivy or vine leaves and tipped with a pine cone.
With a sound ranging from Electronic Breakbeat to Techno and Rave, Ingo Möll (aka Kabanjak) and David Hanke (aka Renegades Of Jazz) deliver melodic club music under their new project The Maenads. They started in late 2020 and simply wanted to change the fact that they've been friends for more than ten years, but never worked together on some music. Orpheus is their first single and marks the start for a full length album they are working on.
